A dedicated Associate Breeder for Cauliflower to work with our close-knit and highly motivated team. Responsible for assisting in the evaluation and development of competitive cauliflower varieties. Implement essential tasks and strategy toward improved trait combinations in parental development and in population improvement. Most activities will be performed at Rajpura, Punjab, INDIA, site and be conducted under supervision of the Cauliflower Breeder. More emphasis will be on following sowing and planting schedule, collection of necessary data points, precise implementation of the breeding plan suggested by the breeder, supervise error free pollination work, managing seed inventory through computerized database, uploading the data into breeding support apps and necessary support in various projects

·      Work closely with the field workers and the R&D operation team.

·      To carry out the sowings and plantings as per the suggested schedule and the layout.

·      Maintain breeding records and trial data in a centralized database.

·      Support in on and off station trial placements, monitoring, and data compilation.

·      Maintain need-based plant populations in greenhouse and open field for breeding projects. Suggest the operation team for necessary agronomic practices and pest controls to grow healthy plants. 

·      Execute the breeding plan very precisely, as suggested by the breeder. This includes – proper layout, plant selection, labelling, error free pollination work for line maintenance, generation advancement and crossings for CMS conversion, trait introgression and hybrid development. 

·      Supervise the field workers for seed harvesting, drying, thrashing, cleaning & packaging. 

·      Processing, tracking, storage, labeling, and management of seed and plant inventory.

Attend and participation in group meetings (physical & virtual as well) on various topics of interest. Collaborate with other breeding projects and share the common resources for improvemnt. 

·         Sufficient experience of handling breeding crops, preferably Brassicas – Cauliflower, Cabbage, Broccoli, Knol-khol. 

·         Knowledge of genetic concepts and principles of plant breeding strategies.

·         Comfortable in handling IT tools to prepare reports & manage information in a common database. 

·         The ability to understand and implement the plan by managing the available resources within the budget. 

·         Skills to manage and motivate the field workers to achieve the objectives.

·         Strong mindset, that includes Positive attitude, problem solving, adaptability, emotional stability and cultural and gender sensitivity. 

Strong communication skills and comfortable to travel within country when required.
